How to Make Delicious Candied Orange Peel at Home

Candied Orange Peel Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 large oranges
  • 6 cups water (for boiling)
  • 6 cups water (for second boiling)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water (for syrup)
  • 1½ cups sugar (for coating)

Instructions:

  1. Score the peel of 2 large oranges into quarters and remove the peel.
  2. Heat peel and 6 cups of water to boiling. Simmer for 30 minutes; drain.
  3. Repeat the process with another 6 cups of water.
  4. Gently scrape off any remaining white membrane from the peel.
  5. Cut peel lengthwise into ¼-inch strips.
  6. In a saucepan, heat 2 cups sugar and 1 cup water to boiling, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  7. Add the orange peel strips and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring frequently.
  8. Drain the mixture thoroughly.
  9. Roll the peel in the remaining 1½ cups of sugar and lay out to dry on waxed paper.
